The way I know is that he left gibberish in the fight scenes. You see the stupidity here? Of course theyl'll do another run. Ninja edit: Yes, the Gothsicles (? lol) link is definitely Apoc's. Lastly, I tend to agree with you, Jorpho - it's like SSRPG is cursed. I highly doubt it's MoriaMug/Deuce's, but I'll check it out. That link you posted, it's gotta be Apoc's translation. But thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely look into it. I rarely use Retroarch unless it's on my Retropie cab, and honestly that doesn't really have a lot of interaction directly with RA. I honestly didn't know it had a translation option. But I can definitely try to see what Retroarch can do. I don't have a NeoCD, but I have my Saturn, and it'd be nice to play it as it was 'meant' to be. As far as using Retroarch, honestly I'd love to play it on original hardware.
SAMURAI SHODOWN RPG ENGLISH PATCH ISO PS1 HOW TO
Get the French or Spanish translation, mutate it into some form of readable English, and 'inject' it back into the game, but I have no idea how to do that. I had the same idea as what you mentioned, though. The rest were some MahJong games, and quiz games that many English speaking gamers disregard (like myself). Just a handful of NeoGeo games were never translated, one of which was SSRPG.

I supposed I should have said the 'scene' for the Saturn is much more active than it is for the NeoGeo CD. I guess what I meant was a few translations have been released in a short(er) period of time, that one dude is hacking stuff like King of Fighters 95 to run without its ROM cart, the Dracula X hack that utilizes the 4mb RAM cart, etc.

Would it then be possible to use some of the tools used on the previously mentioned translations to do the same thing for Samurai Shodown RPG on the Saturn? And then in turn, use that translation for the NeoCD version? Even if the Saturn version is not the 'definitive' version, it would at least be *something.* But it seems there is an active community that is translating Saturn games. I could be talking out of my ass here, but since there isn't really a need for Translating games on the NeoGeo/NeoGeoCD, there aren't many people that work on them, or make tools for translating NeoCD games. I figured maybe there was a way to dump the script for the whole game, google translate it, maybe clean it up a bit, and then inject it back into the Spanish patch, but I guess that's not possible, at least not from what I understand.Īnyway, sorry for the ramble - but seeing as how the Saturn is getting a lot more attention now with Grandia, Lunar, Sakura Wars, Policenauts and their translations, does anyone think it might be possible for someone to translate SSRPG at least for the Saturn? I figure if there are Saturn translation tools out there, can they be used to do this in another game? I looked into it and I'm just not educated enough when it comes to programming/hacking to evenattempt it. I even posted about it in the newcomers' forum. I looked into it, and realized I am INCREDIBLY out of my depth when it comes to ROM hacking or Translation hacking. One of the people that was helping him also offered to continue, and has not gotten any response.Įven I tried to start a project to maybe take the Spanish version (I can read Spanish fairly well but wouldn't say I'm fluent in reading it) and translate that to English, even using Google Translate at worst case. People have even offered to take up the mantle and continue the work (and give him credit, naturally) and so far it seems he's just ignored those offers for help for one reason or another. In fact the reaction to his thread on it was overwhelmingly positive. He abandoned it as well, and he claims that he got a lot of opposition from the NeoGeo community and that is absolutely not true. The other was by a guy named Apocalypse that had some beta testers (I applied, and was not chosen) and he released a partial translation of one of the scenarios, it works but is completely unfinished. All that's left are some scenarios that he uploaded to Youtube. There have been multiple projects started to translate it to English, most notably by MoriaMug/Deuce, though he abandoned it and claims it was lost in an HDD crash, never to be revived/recovered/released. It's been translated into French, as well as Spanish. The NeoGeo CD original is apparently the "definitive" version of the game.
